The kidney filters unwanted substances from our blood and produce urine that excrete them outside our body. There are three main steps involved during urine formation :- glomerular filtration, secretion and reabsorption These processes ensures that the only waste and excess water are removed from our body.
- Ultrafiltration or Glomerular filtration:- Filtration of blood consisting urea, ion, glucose, water etc takes place at glomerulus. After filtration filtrate will reach to PCT (proximal convulated tubule).
- Reabsorption :- It is occur in the renewal tubules where excess ions and water are Reabsorped again in the unfavorable condition.
- Secretion:- Tubular cells secretes H+, K+ ammonal into filtrate because to maintain the concentration of urine.
The rate of urine formation is 125ml/min. Body filtres 180L blodd per day. Approximately 1.5L urine is formed per day.
